Federal Charges for Big-Time Drug Smugglers

On Behalf of | Jun 14, 2015 | Criminal Defense |

The U.S. Attorney in Cleveland recently announced charges against eight men accused of smuggling “large amounts” of drugs from Mexico to the U.S. These particular entrepreneurs were captured as a result of an investigation by the Northern Ohio Law Enforcement Task Force and the Department of Homeland Security.

But in many other cases, big and small-time dealers alike are busted not by wiretaps and informants, but by burned-out taillights and loud mufflers. Everyday, police pull people over for minor traffic violations and make arrests for crimes they never expected. Oftentimes, a suspect will consent to a search of his vehicle, despite the fact that it contains one hundred pounds of cocaine.

The point is, no matter how well you may be driving, a busted light anywhere on your car is enough to justify a stop of your vehicle. Depending on what happens next, you could find yourself in a jail cell very quickly. Change your taillights often and call my office if you’ve been charged with a crime.
